Robert W. Erb joined Schutt Sports as president, chief executive officer and general counsel in 2007, to lead the historic sports equipment company out of a tangle of legal and financial issues and to restore it to the vibrant, growing, profitable business it is today—the largest domestic producer of protective athletic equipment in the US.

Mr. Erb leads a team of 700+ employees in multiple domestic manufacturing and distribution facilities in Illinois and Texas, producing a range of football, baseball, softball and lacrosse helmets, facemasks, pads, protectors, apparel and accessories to professional, college and youth players. Under his leadership Schutt continues an unbroken tradition of manufacturing outstanding American-made sports equipment since 1918.

In his multiple roles with Schutt, Mr. Erb utilizes his experience in intellectual property, new product development, branding and marketing within an overall program of strategic and tactical business planning. He holds multiple patents, including for the dual-density Thermal Plastic Urethane helmet lining system for Schutt.

Previously Mr. Erb served as CEO at Fila International, President and Chief Legal Officer at TaylorMade Golf Company and Head of Sports Marketing and General Counsel for adidas, America. He completed his BA degree at State University of New York, Buffalo and his JD at New York Law School.

In addition to multiple industry awards, Mr. Erb received a Certificate of Recognition for Heroic Response and Performance of Duty—Hurricane Sandy and The President’s Volunteer Service Award: Community Fire Service. He currently serves as First Lieutenant and Training Officer for the Pandome (NY) Fire Department.
